Masters Challenge 2020
The Masters Challenge is on hold for now.

The Survival Plants Masters Challenge is an annual wild plant identification competition held outdoors around Labor Day every year. Anyone may attend. Expert judges will conduct the Masters Challenge. The first place winner will win both copies of my books - Volumes l & ll. The second place winner will win Volume ll. The third place winner will win Volume l.

The Masters Challenge allows you to see how good you really are in a group competition with  other talented wild plant students from around Colorado. As we hike a trail the Masters Judge will call out the name of a plant. The first participant to find that plant wins that round. There may be as many as 100 rounds during the competition. Scores are tallied at the end of the hike and winners are announced.

2020 Location:  - TBD - The group will meet then travel (drive) a short distance to the outdoor challenge site. The challenge site will be easily accessible and will be kept secret until the morning of the event to curtail scouting ahead of time.

2020 Date: TBD - Noon til 5:00 pm

Cost: $10.00

Maximum Number of Participants: 20

Rules: Once the plant identification challenge is announced, the first participant to find, point to and speak the correct common name or Latin name will win that challenge. As we walk a trail, once the challenge is announced, participants cannot go backwards on the trail to look for the plant. With individual challenges, in the event of an exact tie, a point may be awarded to both participants.
